The 2017 CBC Nonfiction Prize is currently open for submissions. See below for details on how to enter.

WHAT: Submit your original, unpublished works of nonfiction between 1200 and 1800 words.

WHEN: Competition runs from January 1 to February 28, 2017.

WHO: All Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada can submit.

HOW: While the competition is active, submit online by clicking the “submit” link or, if you wish to submit by mail, you can download the offline submission form.

FEE:  $25.00 (taxes included) for administration purposes is required for each entry.

WHAT YOU CAN WIN: The winner receives $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, have their story published in Air Canada enRoute magazine and will have the opportunity to attend a 10-day writing residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Four finalists will receive $1,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts and have their story published on CBC Books.

WHAT YOU CAN WRITE: You can submit memoir, biography, humour writing, essay (including personal essay), travel writing and feature articles.
